About this Program?
The Toronto Jr. Argos are proud to have our U16 Junior Varsity age group compete in the Ontario Summer Football League (OSFL), the largest amateur football league in the country. We focus on developing our kids into even better football players as we continue to lay-down the foundation of good, strong, fundamental football. We loan our certified equipment to all kids for the season. Our passionate certified coaches continue to progress and teach the steps of Safe Tackle contact football.

Why?
A wonderful opportunity to be a part of the greatest team sport and to compete at one of the highest levels of rep tackle football in the city. We provide players with a safe environment to further develop their football skills. JV is a great age group for new comers to the sport or to players continuing their contact football experience. We educate all players and teach them how to be safe and responsible football players. Strong emphasis on positional coaching to help grow their football IQ. The goal is to help develop these young athletes with a great football foundation and to compete and succeed at a high level.

PRACTICES:
The landscape of football has changed drastically over the years. That is why we value time and preparation for all our athletes. In the winter months (Jan. Feb. March) we provide the opportunity for our athletes to have our first practices in an indoor facility (SMC Bubble). As the snow melts and the fields open up (end of March) we begin to practice outdoors twice a week on Tues & Thur. As games begin, we will continue to practice twice a week until the completion of the season. Please visit our Schedule Tab for all dates/times/locations.

GAMES:
The OSFL releases the Regular Season Game Schedule in the spring. All games are played either on a Saturday or a Sunday. We play 1 game a weekend. We are typically provided with an 8 game regular season schedule. 4 home games & 4 away games. The Regular Season begins in mid-May and finishes late-July. Playoffs are end-July to early-August.

TRAVEL:
We provide a Coach Bus as our team transportation for all of our players only to all away games that are outside of the GTA.

EQUIPMENT:
Football Equipment is loaned to fully paid players only. The player is responsible for the equipment for the duration of the season. This includes: helmet, shoulder pad, practice jersey, pants, belt, knee pads. For sanitary reasons, the player must provide his own mouth guard, girdle and cleats. The player keeps his game jersey as it is included in the registration fee. Severe fees/penalties are charged if equipment is not returned at the end of the year.

FACILITIES & ATHLETIC THERAPIST:
The Jr. Argos are one of the few programs in the city that provide Athletic Therapists to all of our practices and games. Our players are at all times in the presence of great care at home or on the road. We carefully select our facilities based on a great location that is accessible and safe.

COMMUNICATIONS:
The Toronto Jr. Argos use the TeamLinkt Portal. We use TeamLinkt for our Registration. Once a player is registered all communications will be done via the TeamLinkt app on your phone, or the TeamLinkt Website accessible on any browser. The full team schedule (times & locations of all practices and games) is displayed on the app. The app is the best way to communicate with your coaching staff as parents and players.

POLICIES:
We offer football programming from the age of 6 to the age of 19. Our different Procedures and Policies can be found on the TeamLinkt App as you are registering or on our website. Our refund policy is indicated as well.
